Industry-leading driveline products manufacturer Mark Williams Enterprises has been granted a U.S. Patent for its Accu-Bond™ bonding technology used to make ultra high strength aluminum and carbon fiber driveshafts. The patent, No. 7,485,045, covers the method by which carbon fiber, Duralcan® MMC and 6061 aluminum tubing is permanently mated to the CNC-machined 7075-T6 aluminum end yokes. This process, similar to what is employed in building spacecraft, is far superior to welding.
M-W’s Accu-Bond™ driveshafts are about 50% lighter than comparable steel shafts, yet are exceptionally strong and meet SFI Spec 43.1 as required for Pro Stock and other classes.
To assure that the bonding operation is successful, each and every shaft is tested to a level that exceeds the SFI Specs—far greater than would ever be exerted in competition.
The shafts are available in 3-1/2" and 4" diameters, to provide the optimum weight and critical shaft speed capability. They are custom-made to the desired length and precision phased, as well as dynamically balanced at actual operating speeds. Special bolt-on balance weights are utilized.
Mark Williams Enterprises is celebrating its 45th year in business, and is best known for its line of forged steel axles, driveshafts and disc brake systems.
