"HOT ROD LINCOLN" PRODUCTS
In recent years there has been a tremendous interest in creating hot rods and customs with styling and technology from the ‘50s and ‘60s. One of the more desirable engines from this era is the Ford “MEL” (Mercury-Edsel-Lincoln) that appeared in sizes from 383 to 462 cubic inches in a variety of Lincolns, Mercurys and T-Birds produced from 1958 to 1968. This was actually the first engine to come out of Detroit with a rating in excess of 400 horsepower.
Recognizing a need for quality products to enhance the “MEL,” long-time California performance merchant Slover’s Porting Service (est. 1969) has introduced the Slover-Vogel line of products. The company’s initial offerings include a cast aluminum 8-jug intake manifold that can be configured to accept the familiar Stromberg 97 and other popular carburetors. For those who wish to use some of the modern 4-barrel manifolds, Slover also offers a nifty set of adapters that can accommodate intakes from Ford “385” engines (429-460).
To further enhance any “MEL” engine, Slover offers traditionally-styled finned cast aluminum valve covers, as well as a matching cast aluminum front cover. More products are on the way.
