AVIAID INTRODUCES BOLT-IN OIL
SYSTEM UPGRADES FOR Z06 VETTE
With all that is good about about the latest generation Z06 Corvette, there’s one area that is problematic; the LS7’s OEM dry sump lubrication system. Hard acceleration, cornering and braking can induce oil starvation. Leave it to Aviaid, the company responsible for the lubrication system in the GT-III championshp-winning Callaway Corvettes, to develop a highly effective 3-step retrofit system for the Z06.
The first area of concern is the OEM dry sump tank, which essentially allows the oil to slosh around uncontrolled. To cure this problem Aviaid has developed a specially baffled insert that drops into the tank. It also functions as a separator to help keep oil from going back into the intake manifold.
Next is the oil pan. Aviaid has developed a unique cage insert that features one-way trap doors to keep lubricant near the pick-up. It’s joined by a louvered windage tray that helps keep oil down in the sump to prevent power-robbing windage. These two elements comprise the 2nd step.
Finally, for Z06 owners who want a competition caliber setup while keeping the factory air conditioning, Aviaid has a single-section dry sump pump that mounts to the cylinder head and augments the OEM pump—vastly improving scavenging and evacuation. To accommodate the extra pump the pan needs to have a bung installed and special pick-ups employed.
