Industry leader Aviaid, which has been producing lubrication systems since 1961, has expanded its offerings for the fabled 426 Chrysler Hemi. Now available are highly efficient replacements for the OEM external wet sump pump and multi-stage dry sump systems for competition applications. They are designed to fit both OEM cast iron or aluminum blocks, as well as aftermarket “Hemi” racing blocks (BAE, Keith Black, TFX, etc.).

The smallest OEM replacement pump is factory configured to flow from 8 to 20 GPM (gallons per minute), and can be adjusted to deliver up to 300 PSI pressure. It has a 5/16” female hex drive. For racing applications where 20 to 40 GPM flow is needed, Aviaid’s larger unit is the best bet. It can also be adjusted to provide oil pressure in a 0-300 PSI range. A 7/16” male hex drive is utilized.

Also available are multi-stage pumps that mount parallel to the block and employ a crankshaft-driven belt drive. They can be configured with a wide range of scavenge/pressure sections.

A key feature of both pumps is their ability to be rebuildable in the field. They are offered with aluminum or cast iron pressure sections, with sizes relative to GPM flow desired.
Aviaid’s pump has been proven in competition, used by the 2007 Hemi Challenge winner Rick Houser, driver of Jim DeFrank’s Hemi-Cuda. Engine builder Joe Allread has tested a number of pumps and says the Aviaid provides the most net horsepower.
