(ARP®) has expanded its line of premium quality head bolts and head studs for the resurging Ford “FE” engine to include those specifically engineered for Blue Thunder aftermarket cylinder heads. They join a roster of ARP® head bolts that is nearly 150 part numbers strong, and a similarly large selection of head studs —many of which are for a full range of Ford applications.

These High Performance Series head bolts and studs are made from 8740 alloy steel and nominally rated at 180,000 psi. They are manufactured entirely in-house at ARP’s state-of-the-art facility in Santa Paula, CA, with operations ranging from initial forging through heat-treat, machining and final finishing —all done under the watchful eye of ARP’s skilled technicians and quality control inspectors.

It is important to note that ARP® heat-treats the bolts using special vertical racks to ensure complete 360° penetration, and the threads are rolled after heat-treat —which accounts for a fatigue strength approximately ten times greater than those fasteners threaded prior to heat-treat.
